Paper Rose Tutorial

Here is the tutorial for the paper roses. I thought this would be the easiest way to view it step by step! Can't wait to see what you make! I think that with a wired ribbon, you could make a cute hair bow out of this pattern.

are we tired of me yet?

Woo Wee! I had an awesome week! Truly magnificent! I was hoping that after all the activity of our family Easter week things would calm down, but it was not to be. This week was hectic and Josie and I found out yesterday that they want us to make 400 Mickey Mouse cupcakes for the employee appreciation dinner next week - YIKES! But more on that next week! Here are some photos from this week!

Our awesome manager Janice threw us all a big birthday party since so many of us have birthdays in the summer. We decorated and played some really fun games and we had cake. What? Cake? I know you are asking if I made it - kind of! Josie and I made it together and we make an excellent team if I do say so.....and I do! We came back to work Thursday night about 6 and didn't leave until after midnight. It was a lot of work but the cake turned out so adorable! Here is a little glimpse at the mess we made!

Here is the back of our cake

And here is Josie, me and Myrtle! Isn't she CUTE!
I love her!

(if you cannot tell I am on my tippy toes and Josie is squattin' down!!!)

I have a better picture of her glasses on my camera, but I left that in my locker at work and I am too lazy to go back and get them! They are super sparkley! We covered them in our hot pink fairy glitter. She was adorable - 7 layers of cake on this sweet little lady. The student workers were exstatic when they saw me cutting them all slices of her for their Friday treat!

Now some boring work pictures!

Here is my gigantic bowl of fried rice. This stuff is awesome to stir! We were making it all in our 80 gallon pot but it was such a pain to stir all that heavy rice. And by the time it got up to temp the peas were all smashed and the celery was like mush. So Josie had me steam it one week and it turned out so much better!

Josie with her amazing crafting talent made this for the eating lounge. It adds so much to this sterile room, I love looking at it! Next year she wants to change it with the seasons which will be way fun!

Not a great picture but this is me at the 80 gallon pot starting my cheese sauce for mac n cheese.

This is Theresa, she is our cashier, safety patrol, student worker advisory lady, dairy orderer and breakfast maker all rolled into one! This woman can do it all!! This is her helping the students get breakfast all ready to serve. I believe we made breakfast burritos that day!

And lastly, this has nothing to do with work but I wanted to show you the awesome chair covers that Josie so skillfully made. When I first saw these pictures on her facebook I didn't even recognize that they were ours! I think she said there were four layers of fabric covers on these chairs, this stripey one being the last!

I found some drapes on mega clearance at Wally-World and just fell in l.o.v.e with the fabric. They make all the difference in my dining room! I wish I would have taken a before and after of that! Oh well, you get the idea! We love our new chairs!

Anyway, that is all from me! Hope y'all had a great week! We miss ya like crazies!!!!! Hope to be able to plan a trip again soon! Love you all so much!

work sharing

Hey everybodee! Mom mentioned putting together a bi-weekly newsletter to send out through email and then I remembered this little site that we have! I wanted to share some photos of my job.....I know, I know, calm down, it IS going to be ever so exciting!

This is the first cake I did for the schools.
Caitlyn's school was having it's birthday, the schools here
are all named after people, so her school is named after
Marilyn Wilson.

This is Dennis, he works in the dish room. This was his
Halloween costume.....can you guess who he is?

That is Theresa in the background at the window.

(MEATLOAF)

Meet Josie!
She was frosting some sheet cakes to go
out to the elementary schools. We switch off every six
week menu cycle. I was cooking the main dishes
so she was doing desserts.

Josie came from behind and asked me to sample her
frosting while shoving it in my face!

These are some of the cuppies I made for
catering. They did all the food for the district
Christmas party.

Meet Melanie!
She came from another middle school as part of the
Cooks Training Program. This was our spaghetti day.
Those are our two biggest pots, the 80 and 60 gallon.
The 40 is just to the left. These are a few of the
tomato cans........

....and here a few more!
I won't post the other two I promise, just picture
this photo four times and you have a good idea how many we go through!

Here is our fajita chicken line....well half of it!
Josie makes yummy fajita chicken!

When we came back from lunch the other day we found this strange white trail on the floor going through the kitchen, out the back door and across the cement outside and then it just ended. It was sooooo weird! We couldn't figure out what is was or where it came from.....

It was partially me! I had made cheesecakes earlier that day and had thrown my empty whip topping containers into the garbage - like any good lunch lady! When we were at lunch the garbage man came and took out the trash apparently no knowing there was a hole in the bag and he dragged the thing through the whole kitchen! That stuff was sooooo hard to mop off the floor!

So there are a few pictures of me as a lunch lady!
I love my job!

I start the new cooking cycle starts this next week so I am hoping to snap more pictures of things I cook and to share them! Hopefully all of you will be able to at some point come and visit us and you can have some school lunch with me!

It is amazing how much work and planning goes into making school lunch each day!

I just never imagined!

Love you all and miss you all!
